Introduction
Since its launch in 2006, the Deposit Protection Scheme (the “DPS”) has been safeguarding the bank deposits of members of the public, standing alongside the community every step of the way. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the DPS, the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board (the “Board”) is organising the 20 Years of Deposit Protection – “Capture the Moment” Photography Competition, cordially inviting members of the public to share touching moments of “Protection” and “Togetherness” through photos of everyday life, and to strengthen public connection with the DPS.
Winning entries will be showcased on the Board’s website and social media platforms. Winners will also receive supermarket e-vouchers. Everyone is welcome to take part.
Competition Theme
Entries should be based on the theme of “Protection” and “Togetherness”, incorporating elements of savings, deposits, safeguarding, or planning for the future. This has to echo the message that, over the past 20 years, the DPS has safeguarded depositors’ bank deposits and journeyed together with the public.
Entry Categories
1. Daily Life Category
Entries may be inspired by everyday life, such as family life, community activities, companionship with pets, or interpersonal interactions.
2. Culture and Nature Category
Entries may be inspired by cultural or natural perspectives, such as natural landscapes, scenery, cultural characteristics, or the connection between people and nature or places.
Entry Requirements
Each entry must contain:
- Title of the entry
- A brief description of no more than 100 words (including punctuation)
- The description should briefly explain the meaning, concept or story behind the photo, and illustrate how it presents the concept of “Protection” and “Togetherness”, alongside elements of savings, deposits, safeguarding, or planning for the future
- Entry category (Daily Life / Culture and Nature)
- Name of participant
Photo Specifications
- File format: JPG / JPEG / PNG
- File size: Not exceeding 15MB
- File naming format: Participant Name_Category_Title.jpg
Example: Chan Tai Man_Daily Life_Protection and Togetherness.jpg
Submission Method
- Participants must submit the required materials by e-mail to photo@dps.org.hk on or before 23 September 2026 (Hong Kong Time: 23:59). The e-mail subject line must state: “DPS 20 Photography Competition (Entry Category)”.
- Late submissions, incomplete submissions, or entries that fail to comply with the competition requirements will not be accepted.
- The same entry must not be submitted more than once, nor entered for more than one category.
- Each participant should submit a maximum of one entry.
*Note: Apart from the participant’s name and e-mail address, NO additional personal information is required.
Competition Timeline
- Submission period: 12 August 2026 to 23 September 2026
- Submission deadline: 23 September 2026 (Hong Kong Time: 23:59)
- Judging period: October to December 2026
- Results announcement and display of winning entries: January 2027
- Award distribution: January 2027
The above dates are subject to change at the sole discretion of the organiser.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be assessed based on the following criteria:
- Relevance: Whether the entry clearly presents the concept of “Protection” or “Togetherness”, and incorporates elements of savings, deposits, safeguarding, or planning for the future.
- Creativity and originality: Creativity in shooting angle and method of expression.
- Visual impact: Composition, lighting, colour and overall aesthetic quality.
- Story-telling and emotional appeal: Ability of the work to effectively convey emotion and message.
The organiser reserves the final right of decision regarding the judging process and results.
Awards
50 winning entries will be selected from each category.
Each winner will receive a HK$300 supermarket e-voucher.
Results Announcement
The results will be announced on the Board’s website and social media platforms. Winners will be notified individually of the award collection arrangements.
Winning entries will be displayed on the Board’s website and social media platforms. The organiser may also display the entries on other relevant platforms or occasions as necessary.

Terms and Conditions
- By submitting an entry, a participant is deemed to have agreed to comply with all rules and arrangements of the competition. A participant should read all terms and conditions carefully before submitting an entry. The organiser reserves the right to disqualify a participant who breaches any of these Terms and Conditions.
- An entry may be a photo taken using a digital camera or smartphone. Each photo must not exceed 15MB and must be in JPEG, JPG or PNG format.
- An entry must consist of a single photo and must not be composed of multiple images.
- No lines, watermarks or patterns should be added to the photo.
- Any entry must be original work created by the participant. A participant must ensure that an entry does not infringe any intellectual property rights or other lawful rights or interests of any third party. The organiser shall not bear any liability arising from any infringement of intellectual property rights or other lawful rights or interests.
- If an entry involves any third party (including actors, passers-by, venues, or images), the participant shall obtain prior consent or authorisation from the relevant persons or other lawful rights holders and shall ensure that the entry does not infringe any copyright, portrait rights, privacy rights or other lawful rights. In the event of any claim, all legal liabilities and consequences shall be borne solely by the participant. Where necessary, the organiser may require the participant to provide written proof of lawful authorisation.
- A participant must retain the original digital file of the related works. The organiser reserves the right to request such a file to verify that the participant is the original creator of an entry submitted, and to disqualify any participant who fails to provide such proof of originality.
- To encourage authentic photography and creative expression, any entry must be a photo taken from a real-life scene and must not use any artificial intelligence (AI) technology (such as AI-generated images).
- To ensure fairness, staff of the organiser, members of the judging panel and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate in this competition.
- The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any participant who is ineligible, violates the rules or provides false information.
- Any entry must not contain any obscene, violent, pornographic, defamatory, undesirable, personally offensive, political, religious or insulting content, or any controversial or inappropriate content. Any entry must not cite the name, product or service of any company, bank, school or organisation, or any third party’s trademark or logo, and must not promote any brand, product or service. Any entry must not contravene the laws of Hong Kong or the National Security Law; otherwise, the organiser reserves the right to disqualify the participant, and the participant should bear any legal responsibilities.
- If any entry gives rise to any dispute relating to any breach of the Copyright Ordinance (Cap. 528 of the Laws of Hong Kong) or any other applicable laws, such dispute shall be entirely unrelated to the organiser, and the participant shall bear full legal responsibility.
- All judging results are subject to the final decision of the judging panel, and participants cannot raise any objection or appeal.
- The copyright of a winning entry shall remain vested in the participant. The participant agrees to grant the organiser a perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable and non-exclusive licence to publish, publicly display, distribute, and otherwise use the entry in any form for the purposes of promoting the Deposit Protection Scheme, this competition, the organiser and its related activities, including but not limited to use on websites, social media platforms, promotional events, annual reports, and other publicity materials. The organiser may further authorise its agents or other third parties to use any entry for the aforesaid purposes without prior notice to the participant and without payment of any fee.
- The organiser reserves the right to change the awards at any time without prior notice. All vouchers are not redeemable for cash. Vouchers must be used at designated merchants and are subject to the terms and conditions imposed by such merchants. The organiser shall not bear any responsibility whatsoever for such terms and conditions or for the quality of the products or services provided. The organiser shall not be liable to compensate for any loss, damage or theft of any award after it has been collected by the winner. The organiser reserves the right not to give any award.
- The organiser reserves the right to amend the arrangements, rules, awards and other details of the competition without prior notice.
- In case of any dispute, the decision of the organiser shall be final.
- In the event of any discrepancy between the Chinese and English versions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
- Late submissions will not be considered.
- The organiser reserves the right to reject any entry or disqualify any participant without giving any explanation.
- Once submitted, any entry information cannot be amended, and any entry will not be returned under any circumstances.
Personal Information Collection Statement
- A participant must provide the participant’s name and e-mail address. Otherwise, the entry will not be accepted.
- Personal data collected will be used solely for this competition and related purposes. The Board will take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure that personal data will not be kept longer than is necessary for the fulfilment of the aforesaid purposes for which the data is or is to be used, unless the retention is otherwise permitted or required by law. The participant agrees that the Board and its authorised persons or entities (e.g. contractors), may use, disclose or transfer such personal data for the aforesaid purposes or as permitted by Hong Kong law.
- The Board will take appropriate steps to protect personal data held by it against unauthorised or accidental access, processing, erasure, loss or use (which includes disclosure or transfer).
- If a participant wishes to request access to or correction of the participant’s personal data held by the Board, please complete the “Data Access Request Form” specified by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data and submit it to the Data Protection Officer of the Board by post or by e-mail.
